Getting your breastmilk to us
If you’re inside our catchment area, we will schedule a pickup time for your milk where we will come to you to pickup free of charge. Our catchment area includes Mississauga and surrounding areas as outlined on the map image here. If you’re still ‘close by’ but outside our catchment area, please let us know and we can either work with you for an additional cost for pickup, or we can work with you to schedule a drop off.
Please note we can only take milk frozen in disposable milk storage bags, we cannot process anything in glass or plastic containers – sorry mama!
Need to ship?
If you’re shipping your breastmilk here are some important factors to consider:
whenever possible, use dry ice to ship your stash. It’s the best form of temperature protection, about 5kgs is recommended.
avoid a flimsy styrofoam cooler, shifts, drops and turbulence can happen during transportation and if you’re using something flimsy you run the risk of getting cracks exposing your breastmilk to the elements. If that’s all you’ve got access to, make sure to reinforce the styrofoam, but don’t tape the lid down, you need to leave room for any extra gasses from the dry ice to escape!
do not tape the parcel air-tight, you need to allow for some air to escape from the dry ice, otherwise the whole thing might explode.
clearly label on all sides of the parcel “contains FROZEN breastmilk” and “KEEP FROZEN”
try to schedule to ship your parcel as close to the cut-off time as possible, instead of early in the day.
ship your parcel of Monday to Wednesday, if a delay occurs there are still a couple of business days left in the week to get your package to us.
pack as compactly as possible, shipping fees don’t vary much with weights up to 50lbs, BUT the size of the box will hugely impact the cost.
